Ljubljana airport (aerodrom Ljubljana)
Ljubljana airport is situated some 20 km North of Ljubljana in direction to Kranj. The international airport code is LJU. Previously known as Brnik Airport, recently it has been renamed to Joze Pucnik Airport, after a contemporary Slovenian statesman. There are cheap flights to Ljubljana from several European cities.
Ljubljana airport departures
To the left hand, there are check-ins and sales offices of Adria Airlines. Sales offices of other airlines include AirFrance, Malev, CSA, EasyJet, LOT, JAT airlines and Turkish Airlines. The airport departures can be checked online. All check-ins are subject to the European air safety rules.
In the departure hall, you will also find a cafe serving croissants, snadwiches and pizza, have your last "gibanica" or Union beer from the tap. At the airport departures you will also find a souvenir shop, exchange office, restaurant, self-service restaurant bar. Entering the VIP saloon costs some 70 Euros.
Ljubljana airport arrivals
The airport arrival times can be tracked online at the airport's homepage. A miniature arrival hall offers a little space to meet your arriving friends. There is a cafe and a branch of the tourism office. At least you can get there some maps of Ljubljana, travel tips for Slovenia and very approximate instructions on how to get to the city.
Ljubljana airport transfer
Regular public bus service no.28 operates airport to/from Ljubljana bus station and runs about every one hour. The journey takes 45 minutes. The price of the journey is about 4 Euros. Tickets you buy directly in the bus from the driver. There is also a private shuttle service running less frequently but it's a bit faster. The bus station in Ljubljana is small and situated immeditately in front of the railway station. If you take a taxi from the taxi rank in front of the airport, it will cost about 35 euros.
Car parking at Ljubljana airport
There is an extensive parking place (P2) to your right hand side when entering the Ljubljana airport. For the first 30 minutes, parking your car here is free of charge. Just save well your parking ticket, otherwise you will be charged the full two-weeks parking fee. There is a parking automat where you pay your over-stay. Free minutes is not the case with the new multi-storey paking hall (P1).

has their outlets directly in the airport. Rent a Car hall is situated opposite the arrivals, across the road. Represented are competing car rental companies like Dollar/Thrifty, Atet Rent a Car, Sixt, L.A. rent, National car rental, Budget car hire, Hertz, ABC rent a car, Europcar, AVIS.
Ljubljana airport hotels
No airport hotel in the immediate area, however there are several hotels convenient to the airport served by the shuttle service. Secure online reservation system is available for selected hotels at Ljubljana airport, either in nearby town of Kranj, or between the airport and Ljubljana.
Expansion plans
Slovenia is a fast growing European destination, overhelming the current capacity of the airport, which will be extended considerably in the following years. Terminal T1 has been extended in July 2007 according to the European requirements for the Schengen-agreement countries.
