Even though Slovenian capital is a city of 300 thousand people only, you will find Ljubljana party scene very diverse and thriving. There is a wide selection of bars and clubs, concert venues and also a strong alternative scene. Here under we give you a list of best Ljubljana nightlife options. Cin Cin

When Ljubljana nightlife is in question, do not miss Cin Cin [read: chin chin] if you are a fan of live music escorted with an impressive selection of drinks, all set within a designer interior.

If Mondays are reserved for jazz, Tuesdays are dedicated to business events and lectures. Once a month they host a stand-up evening, usually Wednesdays. Thursdays bring a series of concerts of all possible genres, while Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for DJ’s program that ends at 3:00 in the morning. 

In warmer months, from April to October, happening is taken outside, where they announce festivals, concerts, cinema, exhibitions and even open-air kitchen.

They claim they make the best gin tonic in town. Decide for yourself. Its sister place named Food Porn is just a floor below. The name says it all.  

Metelkova Town – Alternative Nightlife

Before becoming an alternative center of nightlife in Ljubljana, Metelkova Town worked as a prison and military area. The premises have been squatted since 1993. Today it is a centre of independent political, artistic production from fields of music, theatre, sculpture, film, painting etc. 

The free town of Metelkova has its own authentic atmosphere and maybe its own rules too. This autonomous social centre is situated in the area adjacent to popular Hostel Celica and is one of the largest urban squats in Europe.

The “town” comprises several stages that host concerts and DJ’s of independent and alternative music.

There are also art galleries, artists` ateliers, offices of NGOs and LGBT clubs. Party is guaranteed on weekends.

The biggest and the most well-known rock and metal club in Ljubljana has three floors and performs frequent rock concerts and 80s and 90s rock parties.

There is OrtoFest Festival organized every April with live concerts in the evenings. It is popular with the locals and students and closed in the summer when students are out of town.  

It is only 10-minute walk from the city centre and adjacent to the alternative Metelkova Mesto. You can also just chill out and relax while playing a table football and pool.

Orto Bar is often open until early morning, while closed on Sundays and Mondays.

K4 Club

Klub K4 is a 30-year-old organization with a strong tradition of promoting alternative Ljubljana nightlife culture and subcultures in Slovenia and abroad.

K4 offers a diverse program of contemporary music genres like House, Techno, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Breakbeat, Dubstep, Funk, Nu Rave, Electro, Hip Hop, Rock and a wide variety of combinations in between.

Regular LGBT events take place in K4 as well.

It is open from Tuesday until Saturday usually up to 4 or 5 am.

Prices in Ljubljana are on average lower than in Venice or Vienna.

You`ll pay from 2,50 € to 5 € for a large beer and not more than 10 € for a pizza.

Kino Siska – Center of Urban Culture

Kino Siska is an important addition to nightlife in Ljubljana. It is a centre for contemporary and urban creativity dedicated to music, theatre, film and dance. From 2009 it is a center of Slovenian contemporary art.

Their MENT Festival of fresh music artists from all Europe and beyond is organized every year at the end of January. It attracts audience from home and abroad. Concerts and other cultural performances run by the schedule.

Kino Siska is located in Siska neighbourhood 25 min walk from the city centre. You can reach it by bike of public bike share system BicikeLJ as the bike station is adjacent to the venue. You can also take a city bus (No.: 1, 1B, 1D, N1, 3 3B, 5, N5, 8).

For using BicikeLJ and city bus you will need Urbana Card. Taxi shouldn’t cost you more than 5 € from the city centre.

Pritlicje Bar

Pritlicje Bar is not only a bar or café, it is also a gallery of comic books and a place that hosts lectures and public debates about present social and cultural phenomena. With its music, space and events addresses and questions a man from an urban environment.

The place is also very LGBT community supportive. Concerts of urban electronic music are frequent. 24-hour poetry reading takes place every year on 21st March, World Day of Poetry.

The bar is located just beside the Town Hall in the very center of town. Don’t miss their fresh and tasty sandwiches!

Open until 1 am, from Wednesday to Saturday until 3 am.

Patrick`s Irish Pub

As it’s located in the vicinity of the City Hotel and just a few steps from the main square, Patrick’s Irish Pub is at hand to relax after exploring the city. A staircase takes you underground to a pleasant homely interior of wooden chairs and tables, Irish symbols and music.

Choose from wide variety of local craft and international beers and if you fancy a real English style breakfast or English style fast food, Patrick’s Irish Pub is the place to go.

For any major sport event you don’t want to miss (football, rugby, cricket etc), two big screen TVs are there for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, there is no beer garden for warmer months.

Cutty Sark Pub

This English style bar offers a wide selection of international beers. If you do not want to miss your favourite sports match, there are a number of big screen TVs featuring all the main world sport competitions and matches, primarily football.  

Cutty Sark is a very popular Ljubljana nightlife venue. At evenings it becomes a popular party place for locals and tourists alike. 

Open until 1 am, from Wednesday to Saturday until 3 am. 

Located in a hidden alley by the Preseren Square.

Night Lounge Bar AS

The bar usually gets crowded late on with well dressed, dancing people. It is at its best on Friday and Saturday night.

Cvetlicarna

Nightlife in Ljubljana is not the same without Cvetlicarna. Dance parties and concerts every Friday and Saturday. It is a bit too far to walk from the city centre, so better take a taxi or a bus ride.

LGBTQ Ljubljana

Even though Ljubljana is a small town, it has a thriving and friendly LGBTQ scene.

There is a gay party on Saturday night at K4 club, Kersnikova 4,  Metelkova mesto has Tiffany Club and Monokel. There is a number of LGBT friendly cafés like Pritlicje and TOZD, both located in the very center of town.
