Restaurant Stari Tisler
Stari Tisler is an old coachmen's guesthouse (gostilna) of historical significance, based in the centre of town and formerly called Mud Village. Its history goes back to 1905 and it continues to receive custom today. The food on offer at Stari Tisler is based on traditional dishes and bottled or open Slovenian wines. Classical dishes like pizzas or pasta are also on the menu.
If you're eager to find out what domestic Slovene food tastes like, try the house specialities: bograch, tripe, goulash and various stews.
Both cold and warm starters are on offer and you can choose from more or less all types of steak, pasta, pizza and vegetarian dishes. The Salad bar is awash with options (shrimp, tuna, chicken etc).
For desert, Stari Tisler sticks with tradition. Try prekmurska gibanica, home made strudels, dumplings and pies or finish your meal with tiramisu, panna cota or pancakes..
Meals and lunches
Every week day until the afternoon pre-prepared meals are offered, with both meat and vegetarian options.
Slovenian wines are highly appreciated here, thus any kind waiter will be happy to advise you on your choice.
In summertime take a seat outside in the atrium of the house, in a shady garden away from the noise and traffic. Stari Tisler is open every day from 9am to 9pm, weekends and holidays from 11am to 7pm. If you are in a large group or are afraid you won't get a table, give them a call in advance to book. Stari Tisler also offers overnight stays in their own guesthouse.
