How to get to BTC City, Ljubljana
By car
BTC City is located at the outskirts of the city but less than 5 km from the city centre. It lies by the city bypass, which makes it easy to access from any direction you come from. If going on your own from the city centre, stick to the wide Šmartinska road. Keep your wheels straight all along and turn right by the (red colored) petrol station, just before the road comes to an end. Finding yourself at the city bypass means you are a just bit too far.
If coming down the bypass from any side, try not to miss the “BTC” or “Nove Jarse” turn.
Parking places are an advantage of BTC City. All are free of charge, whether outside or in a parking garage, many electronically supervised. Approximately 100 are intended for disabled (disabled on wheelchairs are with lowered pavements, parking lots and adjusted hall entrances not forgotten). Streets are properly marked and roundabouts done for better fluctuation of traffic.
By bus
From the city center (bus stop at the end of Čopova street - by the Post Office and opposite to Nama shopping center) it is the best to take bus number 17. It takes you directly into the heart of the “City”. 2, 7 or 12 are fine as well, stopping by the petrol station at Šmartinska road, less than 100 meters from the spot. From there it sure is difficult to miss it with your eyesight.
Taking a bus on a working day is a smart choice, since they run often (every 10 to 20 minutes), so there is no need for checking timetables. Just take care not to miss the last one back to the city centre, if staying there.
Tip: City busses of Ljubljana have no ticket inspectors on their route, since you enter at the driver only. 0.79 € for the bus token you can buy in any street-shop is the best deal. One stands for one ride, any route, any time. If paid by cash on the bus, it`s 1.25 € per ride but do have the exact amount prepared, since no change is given back. Daily ticket for 3.75 € goes for as many rides per day as you like, taking any route. If staying longer, you may consider taking a weekly one, 14.19 €.
By train
Take the special “BTC train” connecting the main city train station and Atlantis aqua-park located in the middle of the BTC City. Running three times per day both ways from Monday to Saturday for a very reasonable price may be your deal:
