Ljubljana Castle tours
Since the castle hill has always been attractive to settlers due to its strategic position, the continuation of settlements on the hill throughout history is part of the castles lineage. Archaeological findings, architecture and renovation round up the story of the castleand the surrounding hill. The guided tour doesn't only provide you with the history of the fort but leans also on historical facts, stories and legends that have impacted the lives of people in the region.
The castle has more to it than it may seem at first glance. A tour guide will take you around, giving you the historical background, explaining what the castle looked like in the first stages of its construction and what purpose it served. You will see medieval jails, the old Gothic chapel and a dragon with his “manhood”; hear stories and legends about the Slovenian Robin Hood and find out why the dragon became the symbol of the city. You'll be able to see beautifully renovated halls and a 2000-year-old Roman well; climb the tower to see the view of the city and the Alps; and spend 12 minutes in the world of the Virtual castle.
