PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

There are state holidays and work-free days in Slovenia and among them also Catholic religious holidays. Beside the public holidays listed below, there are also other holidays traditionally celebrated in Slovenia and are not work-free. Some of the most popular are Carnival in February and St. Martin`s Day in November, when juice turns into wine. There is also International Women`s Day or St. George`s Day for example.

January – April

  • 1 and 2 January – New Year
  • 8 February – Slovenian Day of Culture
  • Easter Sunday, Easter Monday 
  • 7th Sunday after Easter – Pentecost
  • 27 April – Day of Uprising Against Occupation

May – August

  • 1 and 2 May – Labor Day
  • 8 June – Primoz Trubar Day
  • 25 June – National Day
  • 15 August – Assumption Day
  • 17 August – Slovenians in Prekmurje Incorporated in Mother Nation Day

  • 31 October – Reformation Day
